While playing around with textures in Paint.NET I stumbled across something I though would make a good planet surface.
Spacescapes and planet scenes are not really my thing, but I'm always up for trying something new.

The texture reminds me of a quilt or something similar.
Hm, advanced critique eh.. there are parts of the sky (top left) that are a little bleak, possibly a starfield would make it a bit more interesting. If you do add something to that part of the picture, don't add too much, it could end up detracting from the rest of the picture, which is possibly why you left it fairly empty in the first place.
